Chamonix is the centre of mountain sports and it is great place to do the first steps with snowshoes on your boots. Last fifty years skis were the most popular gear that mountaineers used for winter condition, but nowadays snowshoeing become more and more popular – it became the fastest growing winter sport.

If you already try snowshoeing or not, weekend intro is great chance to enjoy 2 wonderful days in snowy mountains, walking around in powder, watching magnificent mountains and recharge your batteries. Our weekend program is designed from Friday to Sunday. Because of great connection London-Geneva airport-Chamonix back home on Sunday evening. Our snowshoe programs are guided by UIMLA guide, that knows remote parts of Chamonix valley and they will guide you in away from crowds, so your experience will be most joyful.

Itinerary:

Day 1:Arrive at the hotel in Chamonix and meet with your mountain guide. Equipment check and introduction to the plan for the week. Your UIMLA guide will decide which area you will visit depending on the snow conditions.
Day 2: After breakfast you will do your firs steps with snowshoes. Plan for this day is to become confident with snowshoes on easy terrain. Your will climb above Les Houches village to Le Prarion and enjoy amazing views to Chamonix valley.
Day 3: Short drive to Les Contamines and walking to fantastic situated Chalets du Truc. It is

All of our prices are quoted in Euros and announced also in UK pounds sterling – if you wish to use our currency conversion facility, then current daily exchange rates will be applied. Unless otherwise stated, we require a deposit of €470 (approx. £400) per person per course at the time of booking, and the final balance is due eight weeks prior to the start of the course. For bookings made less than 8 weeks before the course start date, full payment is required at the time of booking.

Transport
Chamonix is just an hour away from Geneva International Airport. If you need any help we will be happy to arrange transport to Chamonix for you.

Food and accommodation
During our Chamonix intro weekend course we recommend you chalet-based accommodation. Chalet Tissières is situated in small village Les Bossons just 2 km away from centre of Chamonix. It is very nice, comfortable with relaxed atmosphere. We will be glad to help you with reservations.
 
Fitness and snowshoeing level
To join this course you should have a medium level of fitness. You should be capable of walking 5-6 hours and to do 600 meters vertical. We recommend some activities like running, Nordic walking or cycling for 1-2 hours one or two times per week.

Travel insurance
Snowshoeing is a potentially dangerous activity. Before you start the course you must have travel insurance which includes mountain rescue in case of emergency, in order to avoid expensive charges. There are plenty of options, for example, OEAV Sektion Britannia, The British Mountaineering Council or  Snowcard. If you have an Alpine Club membership card you will also enjoy a discount in mountain huts.
