Monte Rosa heliski

Monte Rosa circut offers some of the best helicopter drop zones for heliskiing in Europe. With more than 80 possible routes we ensure you , that our week  will be full of fun skiing in untouched powder! The first day we will »warm-up« on Gressoney ski area with allday off piste skiing, warming up our legs and skis and refreshing our knowledge of avalanche searching, so we will be fully prepared for next days.

We cooperate with heliski company, that will give us in good conditions chance to do two descents per day with potential to ski more than 5000m vertical! After our week of fantastic off piste skiing  we ensure you, that you will be willinig to ski more…maybe try Indian curry powder or Chamonix offpiste?

Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrive in hotel in Gressoney, meeting with mountain guide. Checking equipment and introduction to weeks plan.

Day 2: Warming-up day on Gressoney ski area so our legs can get used to powder and to do some avalanche transceiver training.

Day 3-6: After breakfast we will be picked-up by helicopter for first descent in a day. We usually do two descents with up to 5000m vertical. Monte Rosa mountain circut is amazing off piste area where are no less than 35 drop-off points. That gives your guide planty of options to choose the best for your group. In case heliskiing couldn’t be carried it will be replaced by off piste skiing.

Day 7: Depart after breakfast.

Our guides are all proffesional UIAGM mountain guides with many years of guiding experiences and good knowledge of area. Sometimes the weather or skiing conditions do not allowed heliskiing. If helicopter cannot fly, the unskied vertical drop will be reimbursed. In that case instead of heliskiing you will enjoy off piste skiing in Gressoney ski area.

All of our prices are quoted in Euros and announced also in UK pounds sterling – if you wish to use our currency conversion facility, then current daily exchange rates will be applied. Unless otherwise stated, we require a deposit of €470 (approx. £400) per person per course at the time of booking, and the final balance is due eight weeks prior to the start of the course. For bookings made less than 8 weeks before the course start date, full payment is required at the time of booking.

Lifts during whole week will cost you aprox. 50eur and about 40eur for guide (split between clients). An additional helicopter drop cost approximately 150eur per person per flight.

Transport
Gressoney is easly reachet from nearby airports: Milan Malpensa, Milan Linate and Turin Caselle airports. From all airports shuttle service – busses drive every 2 hours to Gressoney valley.

Food and accomodation
All week we will be based in village in Gressoney. We usually stay in Hotel Lysjoch, which is small, comfortable 3 stars hotel with well-equiped sauna, where you can relax after superb day in mountain powder paradise.

Finess and ski level
Heliskiing for intermediate skiers with previous experience with off piste skiing. You should be able to ski in all tipes of snow condition all day long (we usually stop only for lunch and cofee). Your fitness level should be very good. We recommend you to do some activities 2-3 times per week like running, nordic walking or cycling 1-2hours per traning and do also some skiing earlier in season.

Travel insurance
Ski touring is risky activity. To avoid unpleasent charges in case of emergency we demand, that you have travel – mountain rescue insurance. There are plenty of options like become member of OEAV Sektion Britannia or The British Mountaineering Council or  arrange it on Snowcard.co.uk.With alpine club membership card you will also enjoy some discount in mountain huts.

What kind of fitness level and skiing experience should you have?
Heliskiing in Monte Rosa – freeriders paradise – will be perfect adventure for those with previous off piste and/or ski touring experience. You should felt comfort to ski on black runs and in all types of snow. You should be able to ski all day long, multiple days without being very tired. Our skiing day will be 8 hours long with short rest for snack or lunch and really long descents on skis without extra stops.

Equipment list will help you to ensure you will have all important things, that might be needed. Please be aweare that on our off piste and heliskiing programs we recommend use of avalanche airbag backpack. We recommend you to have skis with ski touring bindings and skins fitted to your skis, while your guide can decide to do short climb to get the best skiing untouched slopes.  If you don’t have them, they can be rented in Gressoney.
