Mountain guides on tour!

In the middle of October, we finally went on holidays. Manca and I drove by van across the Balkan to Pireas and from there by ferry on the blue sea! Tina, Ula and Tomas went by plane from Munich, via Athens to the island of Kos and from there by ferry to Kalymnos. Kalymnos, a Greek island in the Aegean Sea is one of the best sites for sport climbing in Europe, if not the world.

We stayed in apartments  just above the village of Masouri and only minutes to the nearest climbing sites. The beach is just below the hotel, the sea was still warm enough for swimming, and after months of work in the Alps, it was nice to be able to relax again. To keep laziness at bay, we climbed most days and explored most of the climbing areas across the island.

As always Tomas Jakofcic – Jaka – was in top form. Five months after his ascent of Mt. Everest he climbed Rendez  with Platon route (  8b, 30m). The rest of us, we climbed up to 7a, improving our level and style of climbing on the rock. Finding time to relax and enjoy ourselves away from the high mountains get us in the mood for the winter season which is coming soon.
